Music metadata finder

Paste an Apple Music or Spotify link, or search by artist and title, to see the details of a release.

Your search is sent to the data sources listed below to get a result. We do not store it.

Results come from public databases and may be incomplete. Distributor results are possible matches, not proof. Artwork belongs to its owners.

What release metadata is

Release metadata is the information stores and collecting societies use to identify a song: title, artist, ISRC, UPC, release date, genre, the P-line and the C-line. The P-line is the notice for the sound recording, and the C-line is the notice for the other copyright material.

Why consistency matters

Plays and money follow metadata. When the same song carries different spellings, codes or dates across releases, matches can fail, claims can be missed and payments can be delayed. Keep your own records and compare them with what stores show.

Questions

What is a P-line?

The P-line is the notice, written with the symbol ℗, that names the owner of a sound recording and the year of its release.

Why does the ISRC say matched by name?

Stores do not always show the ISRC of a track. When we cannot read it directly, we look for a recording with the same title, artist and album in an open database, so the match can be wrong. Check it against your own records.

Which links work?

Apple Music album and song links, and Spotify track, album and artist links. Links from other stores are not supported yet, so search by artist and title instead.
