ISRC finder
Look up a recording by its ISRC, or find the code of a song by artist and title.
Your search is sent to the data sources listed below to get a result. We do not store it.
Results come from public databases and may be incomplete. Distributor results are possible matches, not proof. Artwork belongs to its owners.
What an ISRC identifies
An ISRC, the International Standard Recording Code, identifies one recording, not a release. The same recording keeps its code on a single, an album and a compilation. That is how stores and collecting societies match plays and sales to the right song.
How the 12 characters are built
The code has 12 characters: a two-letter country code, a three-character registrant code, a two-digit year and a five-digit designation code. Hyphens are a display habit, so a code with hyphens and the same code without them are one code.
When you need a new code
A new master, a remix or a new recording needs its own code. A re-release of the same master keeps the code it already has. Codes usually come from your distributor, and you can find yours in its dashboard, in the credits stores show, or in the metadata of your files.
Why a code may not be found
Public databases are built by volunteers and by labels, so a very new or independent release may be missing. A missing result is not proof that a code is wrong or unused.
Questions
What is the difference between an ISRC and a UPC?
An ISRC identifies a single recording. A UPC or EAN identifies a whole release such as an album, an EP or a single.
Can two songs share one ISRC?
No. Each recording has its own code. A release that reuses the same master keeps that master's code.
Do I pay for an ISRC?
Often not. Many distributors assign codes at no extra cost, and national agencies issue them to registrants. Check how your distributor handles them.
Why was my ISRC not found?
The databases we search may not list your release yet. Check the code in your distributor dashboard, and try again later.
