A label can use automated tools, engineers or both, but should apply the same acceptance process to every master. Cost savings are useful only when the delivered recording meets the brief.

Put it into practice

Create a checklist for clipping, sequencing, metadata and listening references. Assign a person to approve the final version and keep a clear revision history.

Check the finished deliverable

Keep the original session and compare the final export with your approved reference. Listen from start to finish, including transitions and the tail. Check that the file you upload is the intended version, not an earlier bounce with a similar name. If the release needs a specialist format, get the delivery specification before the final export.
